Pre-Sudden Urge [Altis]

Mark, Tom, and Sib

"This is pretty much where the band started. Tom and I met
at Slater st. field in 1979 with uncanny similar interests in music.
I met Sib through Tom. We all attended Bay Path V T H They
were both Juniors and I was a Sophmore. We would Practice
at Toms parents house 5 days a week [no lie] God bless Toms mom
It kept us out of trouble..well.. while we played anyway" Mark

Sudden Urge at Sirmorgans Cove 1986

Mark, Sib, Frank, and Jim

"This is around when Sudden Urge became official.Tom had
gotten married an didn't have time to jam anymore having a new
family and a soon to be son on the way [Tom Jr]. I hooked up with
Frank an aquaintance where I worked. He played the drums so
we started practicing at his moms house 3 days a week. Frank
introduced me to jim another aspiring musician and we performed where
we could. Eventually Sib joined the band after returning from a
2 year jaunt to California. Shortly after Frank left to be a lead singer
in Ezmarelda and Sib got married and I was bandless again" Mark

unofficial [Abandon]

Mark, Tom, and Gary

In 1986 Sudden Urge was in limbo. I reunited with Tom and was introduced to
Gary another lefty. I actually met another musician that played as I did, that
was great we could swap guitars and try something new without spending an arm
and a leg. Unfortunately this group lasted maybe a year. We never gave a name much
thought. At one gig someone suggested [a-band-on] hence "Abandon". It didn't stick
thank God, I was sticking with "Sudden Urge". It's not like I joined this band...
We kind of just got together at gary's house and started jammin. Mark

Sudden Urge

Mark, Sib, Andy, and Toms back there somewhere

Tom,Sib and I were jammin again and Andy joined the band. He jammed with another
group of guys in town, but nothin serious. He was really polished on Skynyrd and
ZZtop. His true passion was hunting though, so whenever game season was upon us,
we were one band member short. Sib eventually left "Sudden Urge" to join
"River Street band". He tried to persuade me to join as lead singer but it wasn't
my calling. Andy joined Sib shortly there after. River Street band was mostly
Southern rock so it was an easy call for them. I do recall performing with them
a couple of times. nice group of guys and good musicians. Mark

Sudden Urge

Mark, Tom, Mike, and Bill

We hooked up with Mike [bass] right away. Mike to me, seemed like a natural.
I think he's jammed with every band around the area at one point. Mike could
improvise well. Bill wasn't even old enough to drink and fresh out of college
when we met. We took him in because he was ambitious, could hold his own, and
brought a fresh new perspective to the band. Bill lasted a couple of years but
left for different personal interests. Mark

Sudden Urge

Mark, Tom, Dennis, and Mike

1993 Dennis joined the band. All I can say is WOW!! He could play, and has
played everything. You couldn't ask for a more perfect guitarist. Just an all
around great guy. He brought us to a new level. I found myself not having to
work as hard. I'm still learning alot from him. Mike stayed on for a little
while and then called it quits. Mark

Sudden Urge

Mark, Cory, Dennis, and Tom

1995 Cory joined the band. He helped the band appreciate alot of college
radio music and open the door for reggae which we haven't yet explored.
Cory also had a very good singing voice and helped me out with our
repertoire. He was the McCartney to my Lennon and it worked well. Cory
retired in 2001 to start a family. To this day I still miss his collaboration,
and the door to the band will always be open.Mark

Sudden Urge

Dennis, Tom, Sib, and Mark

2001 Sib rejoined "Sudden Urge" and we continued on for a couple of
years. At the end of 2003 I decided to call it quits. I was tired
and needed a break. Sib left shortly there after. Mark

Sudden Urge

Gary, Dennis, Jack, Mike, and Tom

2003 after Marks departure, "Sudden Urge" was left to fill some large shoes.
Gary joined to fill the guitar & keyboard rythym section and Jack was incorperated to
handle the lead vocals. Mike rejoined for bass duties.

2006 Mike left the band again for other pursuits. Carl joined the band
as bassist. Jack left "Sudden Urge" as the year was drawing to a close for
a solo project. Mark rejoined in December. Carl departed the band early 2007.

2007 Steve joined the band to fill the bassist position. He also helped
with the lead vocal duties. Steve left in mid 2009 to pursue other opertunities.

2009 Andy joined the band. Right off the bat we could all see that andy was
going to work. He has a great attitude, learns quick, and most of all he's
a natural for playing slap bass and funk. 2011 Andy left the band for personal
reasons. We wish you the best of luck..
